2017 Baseball Canada Volunteer and Coach of the Year belong to Manitobans

Baseball Canada and Major League Baseball Volunteer of the Year Award – Louis Côté

A volunteer whose hard work has been felt by many across his home province of Manitoba, Louis Cote is the epitome of a dedicated volunteer. President of the Carillon Baseball League, Louis has been at the forefront of growth and expansion in the region where hundreds of kids have been able to enjoy the great game of baseball. His innovative ideas and reception to change have improved programs, leagues and associations across Manitoba for the betterment of the game.

Lionel Ruhr Elite Coach of the Year Award – Faron Asham

With over 30 years coaching experience in baseball, Faron’s career reached new heights in 2017 as he led a group of Manitoba teenagers to the championship contest at the Canada Games in front of 7000 fans at Shaw Park in Winnipeg. The squad captured the hearts of many Manitobans and eventually came away with a silver medal to match the highest achievement of a Manitoba baseball entry at a Canada Games event.
